E-purse

An e-purse (also called T-purse) is a balance amount that is loaded on a carrier (smart card, EMV card...). Travelers can use this amount to pay for their journeys. Typically, it works as follows:

1. The traveler validates his card when he gets on the vehicle.
2. The traveler validates his card before he gets off a vehicle.
3. The traveled kilometers are calculated and the corresponding amount (e.g. € 0,10 per kilometer) is withdrawn from the e-purse.
